

Still, long matches (matches with many planets and several tech levels) are more thrilling, even if they take a long amount of time. If the tech levels are narrow, the Rebels are favored because they won't be behind for the majority of the match. If you're playing a match with wide number of tech levels, then the Empire is favored due to controlling the pace of the match. The starting and end tech levels are most important. This way you can immediately play with the best buildings and units, or perhaps restrict the sides the other way and fight with only the weakest units. The host of a game (or just you if you're playing against the computer) can set a few options, including starting credits and beginning and end tech levels. Official maps have anywhere from 8 planets to the full 43, and can therefore take anywhere from a few hours to days or weeks to complete. The ultimate goal is to control every planet on a given map.
